Monday, 10th May 2010

In Italy, triple Gr1-winning Darley shuttler Dubawi (Dubai Millennium-Zomaradah, by Deploy) added a group success when Irish-bred colt Worthadd (Dubawi-Wigman, by Rahy) notched his 3rd successive stakes-win in just over a month when he gained the judge's verdict in a 3-way photo-finish to the  €666,000 (A$966,000) Gr2 Derby Italiano (2200m) for 3YOs at the Capannelle in Rome. Worthadd (ridden by Mirco Demuro for trainer Vittorio Caruso) scored by a short-head from fellow colt Ansiei (Highest Honor-Albiatra, by Dixieland Band) & with a further head to fellow Irish-bred colt Saratoga Black (Pyrus-Mary Martins, by Orpen). Worthadd took his record to 4 wins (also including both April's Gr3 Premio Parioli over 1600m at Capannelle & Listed Premio Gardone over 1600m at San Siro) & a placing from 5 starts for €474,465 (A$688,000) earnings.
