Galileo Adds UK Gr2

Friday, 14th May 2010

In the UK overnight, former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a group success when unbeaten Irish-bred colt Cape Blanco (Galileo-Laurel Delight, by Presidium) returned from a 9-months spell to open his 2010 campaign & maintain his perfect record with a 3.25-lengths victory in the £150,000 (A$248,000) Gr2 Dante Stakes (10.5 furlongs) for 3YOs at York. Ballydoyle's Cape Blanco (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated fellow colts Workforce (King's Best-Soviet Moon, by Sadler's Wells) & Irish-bred Coordinated Cut (Montjeu-Apache Star, by Arazi). Cape Blanco was a €330,000 (A$479,000) yearling at the 2008 Goffs Million Sale; overall he now boasts 4 wins (also including both 2009's Irish Gr2 Futurity Stakes over 7 furlongs at Fairyhouse & Irish Gr3 Tyros Stakes over 7 furlongs at Leopardstown) from 4 starts.
