In the US, Chicago law firm Power, Rogers & Smith has filed a lawsuit on behalf of paralysed jockey Rene Douglas against Arlington Park & its parent company Churchill Downs, plus 2 two companies dealing with Arlington's Polytrack racing surface (Keeneland Association & Martin Collins Surfaces), reported Daily Racing Form. Douglas lost the use of his legs after his mount Born To Be fell, then rolled on top of him in the Gr3 Arlington Matron Handicap in May 2009. Jamie Theriot (rider of the horse deemed by stewards to have initiated the accident) served a 30-day suspension.
