Albert The Fat Wins Gr1 BTC Cup

On the Australian track, Yarraman Park sire Magic Albert (Zeditave-Sally Lou, by Salieri) added a Gr1 triumph (his 2nd Gr1-winner & 9th individual stakes-winner) when 5YO gelding Albert The Fat (Magic Albert-Alemar, by Bureaucracy) gained the judge's decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the $400,000 weight-for-age Gr1 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben in Brisbane. Albert The Fat (ridden by Damian Browne for trainer Eden Petrie) scored by a nose from 3YO filly Melito (Redoute's Choice-Cloister, by Marauding) & with a further long-neck to 3YO colt Latin News (Hussonet-Email Me, by Danehill). Albert The Fat (a $40,000 weanling consigned by Rheinwood Pastoral at the 2006 Magic Millions National Sale) took his record to 10 wins & 4 placings (including last start's Gr2 Victory Stakes over 1200m at Eagle Farm on May 1 & 2009's Listed Show County Quality over 1200m at Randwick) from 20 starts for $544,525 earnings.
