Arqana 2YOs: $145 High Chaparral Colt To Aust

Monday, 17th May 2010

Hubie de Burgh (acting on behalf of an undisclosed Australian client) paid €100,000 (A$145,000) for a colt by dual Derby-winning former NZ Windsor Park Stud & now Coolmore Australia shuttler & 6-time Gr1 victor High Chaparral (out of Green Desert mare Clever Myth) consigned from Hawthorn Villa Stud. The colt is from the famed Moyglare Stud family of Talking Picture & Dress To Thrill & De Burgh told racingpost.com: "He was the most attractive horse, a real athlete with a good attitude. He breezed very well & had all the quality of High Chaparral with (dam-sire) Green Desert thrown in. He will race in Australia - High Chaparral has done very well down there & we hope that this one will develop into a Gr1 horse. Australia has a tremendous prize-money structure, especially for older horses, and the exchange rate is attractive for Australians to buy in this part of the world at the moment."
