Monday, 17th May 2010

Gr1-winning former Coolmore shuttler Footstepsinthesand (Giant's Causeway-Glatisant, by Rainbow Quest) added a UK black-type success when Irish-bred daughter Chachamaidee (Footstepsinthesand-Canterbury Lace, by Danehill) came from last-in-running to score a 0.75-length victory in the £40,000 (A$66,000) Listed Fillies Stakes (7 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at York. Chachamaidee (ridden by Tom Queally for trainer Henry Cecil) defeated fellow Irish-bred Carioca (Rakti-Cidaris, by Persian Bold) & US-bred Sweet Sonnet (Seeking The Gold-Minister's Melody, by Deputy Minister). Chachamaidee was a 130,000 guineas (A$221,000) weanling at the 2007 UK Tattersalls December Sale & later a 135,000 guineas (A$230,000) yearling at the 2008 Tattersalls October Sale. Overall she now has 2 wins & a placing (in 2009's Gr3 Albany Stakes over 6 furlongs at Royal Ascot) from 5 starts for £37,174 (A$61,000) earnings.
