The Hombre Wins Rough Habit Plate

Dual Gr1-winning Widden Stud stallion Lucky Owners (Danehill-Miss Priority, by Kaapstad) added a group success (& 3rd individual stakes-winner) when gelded son The Hombre (Lucky Owners-Atlanta Belle, by Defensive Play) was 2nd-across-the-line by a short-neck but was subsequently awarded victory by the stewards in the $125,000 Gr3 Rough Habit Plate (2020m) for 3YOs at Doomben. The Hombre (ridden by Jonathan Riddell for trainer John Bary) duly defeated 1st-across-the-line colt Tee Emar (Mossman-Nishikawa, by Fuji Kiseki) & fellow gelding Sanderson (Iglesia-Princess Tatsuta, by Fuji Kiseki). The Hombre (passed-in for NZ$36,000 as a yearling at the 2008 NZ Bloodstock Select Sale & subsequently a NZ$50,000 2YO at the 2008 NZ Bloodstock Horses-In-Training Sale) took his record to 4 wins & 4 placings from 10 starts for $126,224 earnings.
