Road To Rock To Stand At Wellfield Lodge

Tuesday, 18th May 2010

NZ Wellfield Lodge has landed a breeding coup with the signing of dual Gr1 winner Road To Rock (Encosta de Lago-Trewornan, by Midyan) to stand at their Palmerston North-based property on New Zealand's North Island. Trained by Anthony Cummings, 5YO entire Road To Rock added a 2nd Gr1 triumph last month when he scored a 2-lengths victory in the $350,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick. Road To Rock (a $100,000 yearling consigned by Willow Park at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 6 wins (also including 2009's Gr1 Arrowfield Stud George Main Stakes over 1600m at Royal Randwick & Listed Sportingbet Gold Cup over 2000m at Caulfield, plus 2008's Listed Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m at Randwick) & 9 placings (including last start's Gr1 Doncaster Mile over 1600m at Randwick on April 24, plus February's Gr3 Carlyon Cup over 1400m at Caulfield, as well as 2009's Gr1 Arrrowfield Stud Epsom Handicap over 1600m at Randwick) from 34 starts for $1,153,350 earnings. Road To Rock will stand for NZ$12,500 + GST alongside current Wellfield Lodge sires Alamosa (O'Reilly-Lodore Mystic, by Centaine) and Handsome Ransom (Red Ransom-Bianca Lancia, by Mill Reef).
