Monday, 24th May 2010

Also in Ireland overnight, former Collingrove shuttler Marju (Last Tycoon-Flame Of Tara, by Artaius) added a Gr1 triumph when daughter Bethrah (Marju-Reve D'Iman, by Highest Honor) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the €325,000 (A$488,000) G1 Irish 1000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at The Curragh. Bethrah (ridden by Pat Smullen for trainer Dermot Weld) scored by a head from US-bred Anna Salai (Dubawi-Anna Palariva, by Caerleon) with a further neck to Music Show (Noverre-Dreamboat, by Mr Prospector). At her previous start, Bethrah also won Ireland's Gr3 1000 Guineas Trial Stakes (7 furlongs) at Leopardstown on May 9.
