Sarafina wins French Gr1 Prix Saint-Alary

Monday, 24th May 2010

In France overnight, multiple Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler Refuse To Bend (Sadler's Wells-Market Slide, by Gulch) added a Gr1 triumph when The Aga Khan's filly Sarafina (Refuse To Bend-Sanariya, by Darshaan) scored a half-length victory (& then survived a protest) in the €250,000 (A$375,000) Gr1 Prix Saint-Alary (2000m) for 3YO fillies at Longchamp in Paris. Sarafina (ridden by Gerald Mosse for trainer Alain De Royer-Dupre) was making only her 2nd start in defeating US-bred Deluxe (Storm Cat-Hasili, by Kahyasi) & front-running UK-bred Hibaayeb (Singspiel-Lady Zonda, by Lion Cavern). She now has 2 wins from 2 starts.
