US Sire Avenue Of Flags Dies Aged 22
US sire Avenue Of Flags (Seattle Slew-Beautiful Glass, by Pass The Glass) was euthanased aged 22 at Winners Circle Farm in New Mexico "following an accident in his paddock" reported bloodhorse.com. Overall he has produced 208 winners from 299 starters (25 stakes-winners, including last year's US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner California Flag, plus Gr1-winners Joey Franco & Notable Career) among 500 foals from 17 crops for US$16,316,054 progeny earnings. In his only 3 starts on the track, Avenue Of Flags notched 2 wins & a runner-up (in the 1990 Gr2 Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes over 6 furlongs). He then spent his initial 14 seasons at the Mabee family's Golden Eagle Farm in California, before moving to New Mexico for the 2005 breeding season where he stood at Double LL Farms; he also spent time at A&A Ranch & Hourigan Horse Farm before moving to Winners Circle.
