BHA Confirms 4-Year Ban For Jockey McKeown

Wednesday, 26th May 2010

In the UK overnight, jockey Dean McKeown had his 4-year ban from racing worldwide confirmed by the British Horseracing Authority, "losing the last skirmish in his long-running battle to clear his name" reported racingpost.com. The BHA "even considered the possibility of doubling the ban, which would have been the judgement under the new, harsher 2010 penalties". McKeown, 50, was banned in October 2008 for his part in a 9-man conspiracy to lay owner Clive Whiting's horses trained by Paul Blockley.
