Sydney Raceclub Merger Discussions "On-Going"

Wednesday, 26th May 2010

Asked about the status of a potential merger between the Australian Jockey Club (Royal Randwick & Warwick Farm) & Sydney Turf Club (Rosehill Gardens & Canterbury Park), AJC chief executive Darren Pearce told TVN yesterday: "We have always said that we will talk to the members as soon as we have something concrete to say. . . . It is public knowledge that the clubs & Racing NSW & the government were prepared to have further discussions. After the (Autumn) Carnival those discussions are on-going. Neither club has taken a position on what the future may look like, but we are looking at opportunities to strengthen Sydney racing & that is what we all want - to have a very strong Sydney racing enterprise that has the very best outcomes for everyone involved. So no decisions have been taken, discussions are on-going & when there is something firm to communicate we will be happy to communicate that to the public."
