High Yield Adds UK Black-Type

Monday, 31st May 2010

Also in the UK, multiple Gr1-winning former Coolmore shuttler High Yield (Storm Cat-Scoop The Gold, by Forty Niner) added a group success when US-bred 5YO gelding High Standing (High Yield-Nena Maka, by Selkirk) came from the rear of the field to score a half-length victory in the £40,000 (A$69,000) Listed Achilles Stakes (5 furlongs) at Haydock Park. High Standing (ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer William Haggas) defeated 3YO filly Rose Blossom (Pastoral Pursuits-Lamarita, by Emarati) & 8YO gelding Judd Street (Compton Place-Pudding Lane, by College Chapel). High Standing was a US$80,000 yearling at the 2006 Keeneland September Sale, then a 55,000 guineas (A$96,000) 2YO at the 2007 UK Tattersalls April Sale & finally a 56,000 guineas (A$98,000) 3YO at the 2008 Tattersalls Autumn Sale. Overall he now has 8 wins (also including 2009's Gr3 Hackwood Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newbury) & 3 placings (including 2009's Gr1 Haydock Sprint Cup over 6 furlongs at Haydock) from 16 starts for £189,999 (A$327,000) earnings.
