Kutchinsky Wins Grand Prix Stakes

Monday, 31st May 2010

Ill-fated former Widden Stud shuttler Anabaa (Danzig-Balbonella, by Gay Mecene) added a group success (& 76th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when gelded son Kutchinsky (Anabaa-My First Zabeel, by Zabeel) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $150,000 Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) for 3YOs at Doomben. Kutchinsky (ridden by Craig Newitt for trainer Tony Noonan) scored by a short-neck from fellow gelding The Hombre (Lucky Owners-Atlanta Belle, by Defensive Play) with a further long-neck to the colt Landlord (One Cool Cat-She's Country, by Kenfair). Kutchinsky (a $290,000 yearling consigned by Widden Stud at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) took his record to 3 wins & 2 placings from 9 starts for $164,332 earnings.
