Mr Medici Wins HK Gr1 Champions & Chater Cup

In Hong Kong yesterday, 5YO gelding Mr Medici (Medicean-Way For Life, by Platini) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the HK$8 million (A$1.25m) Gr1 Champions & Chater Cup (2400m) at Sha Tin. Mr Medici (ridden by Gerald Mosse for trainer Peter Ho) defeated 4YO entire Super Pistachio (Danehill Dancer-Pharapache, by Lyphard) & 8YO gelding Viva Pataca (Marju-Comic, by Be My Chief). Mr Medici now has 3 wins (also including March's Gr3 Premier Plate over 1800m & 2008's Gr3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup over 2400m) & 10 placings (including April's Gr2 Chairman's Trophy over 1600m plus both February's Gr1 HK Gold Cup over 2000m & Gr3 Centenary Vase over 1800m, as well as 2009's Gr1 Hong Kong Derby over 2000m, Gr2 International Cup Trial over 2000m & Gr3 Sha Tin Trophy over 1600m, in addition to 2008's Irish Gr3 Kilternan Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown, Irish Gr3 Tetrarch Stakes over 7 furlongs at The Curragh, Irish Listed Platinum Stakes over 8 furlongs at Cork & Irish Listed Nijinsky Stakes over 9 furlongs at Leopardstown) from 18 starts.
