Vain Raider Wins Roma Cup

Former WA Mungrup Stud stallion Kenvain (Kenmare-Dancelot, by Vain) added a group success when front-running 5YO gelding Vain Raider (Kenvain-Tropical Minx, by Carry A Smile) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $125,000 weight-for-age Gr3 Roma Cup (1200m) at Belmont Park in Perth. Vain Raider (ridden by John Claite for trainer Jim Taylor) defeated favoured 7YO gelding Idyllic Prince (Scenic-Uma Princess, by Umatilla) & 4YO gelding Grand Nirvana (Scenic-Paradise Park, by Bletchley Park). Vain Raider (a $30,000 yearling at the 2006 Magic Millions Perth Premier Sale) took his record to 9 wins & 10 placings (including 2009's Listed Birthday Stakes over 1200m at Belmont Park, Listed Belmont Newmarket over 1200m at Belmont Park, Listed Beaufine Stakes over 1000m at Belmont Park & Listed H.G.Bolton Stakes over 1200m at Belmont Park) from 20 starts for $426,450 earnings.
