Azeri, Point Given & Best Pal To US Hall-Of-Fame
Former US Horses-Of-The-Year Azeri (Jade Hunter-Zodiac Miss, by Ahonoora) & Point Given (Thunder Gulch-Turko's Turn, by Turkoman), plus multi-millionaire Best Pal (Habitony-Ubetshedid, by King Pellinore) & jockey Randy Romero have been elected to the US National Museum Of Racing's Hall-Of-Fame.
- Azeri won 7 Gr1 races (including the Breeders' Cup Distaff) & earned US$4,079,820. Azeri was subsequently passed-in for US$4.4 million when offered as a broodmare at the 2009 Keeneland January Sale, before selling for US$2.5 million to Japan's Katsumi Yoshida for US$2.25 million at the 2009 Keeneland November Sale. Her 1st foal (an A.P.Indy colt) was passed-in for US$7.7 million as a yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale, before topping the 2009 Keeneland April Sale at US$1.9 million.
- Point Given also won 6 Gr1 races (including both the Preakness & Belmont Stakes) & retired with 9 wins & 3 runners-up (2 in Gr1 contests) from 13 starts for US$3,968, 500 earnings. He subsequently sired Canadian Horse-Of-The-Year Sealy Hill, Canadian champion Points Of Grace, ill-fated millionaire Go Between & Gr1-winner Point Ashley.
- Best Pal won 6 Gr1 races (plus runner-up in the Kentucky Derby) & retired as all-time leading California-bred money-earner with US$5,668,245.
- Louisiana-born Romero, 52, retired in 1999 (after a 26-year career) with 4,294 wins & US$75 million prize-money. He rode fellow Hall-Of-Famers Personal Ensign & Go for Wand & won riding titles at 10 different tracks (including Belmont Park, Gulfstream Park & Keeneland).
