US Gr1-winning 5YO mare Seattle Smooth (Quiet American-Our Seattle Star, by Seattle Song) has been retired to stud "due to ankle issues", reported US Daily Racing Form. Seattle Smooth (bred by Dr Oscar Benavides & Darley) was a US$340,000 yearling at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale & recorded 7 wins (including 2009's Gr1 Ogden Phipps Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Belmont Park, Gr2 Shuvee Handicap over 8 furlongs at Belmont Park & Gr2 Bed O'Roses Handicap over 7 furlongs at Aqueduct, plus 2008's Gr2 Cotillion Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Philadelphia Park, Listed Go For Wand Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park & Listed Bay Meadows Oaks over 8.5 furlongs) & 3 placings (including runner-up in her final run in the Gr2 Shuvee Handicap over 8 furlongs at Belmont Park on May 15, plus 2008's Gr2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes over 9 furlongs at Pimlico & Listed California Oaks over 8.5 furlongs at Golden Gate Fields) from 14 starts for US$1,001,160 earnings.
