King Cugat Adds US Gr3

Widden Stud shuttler King Cugat (Kingmambo-Tricky Game, by Majestic Light) added a US graded-stakes success when 5YO gelding Mambo Meister (King Cugat-Bleuslittlesecret, by Desert Secret) blitzed his rivals by 7.75-lengths in the US$100,000 Gr3 Memorial Day Handicap (8.5 gurlongs) at Calder racecourse in Miami in Florida. Mambo Meister (ridden by Manoel Cruz for trainer Philip Gleaves) defeated 4YO entire Causeway's Kin (Giant's Causeway-You, by You And I) & front-running 4YO gelding Cinnamon Road (Delaware Township-Baybrooke, by Montbrook). Mambo Meister took his record to 9 wins (also including last start's Gr3 Miami Mile Handicap over 8 furlongs at Calder on April 25, plus 2009's Gr3 Spend A Buck Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Calder, Listed Blazing Sword Stakes over 8 furlongs at Calder & Listed Big Bubble Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Calder) & 9 placings (including January's Gr3 Fort Lauderdale Stakes over 8 furlongs at Gulfstream Park, plus runner-up in both 2009's Gr2 Fourstardave Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Saratoga & Gr3 Miami Mile Handicap over 8 furlongs at Calder) from 28 starts for US$483,025 earnings.
