Winning Debut For Half-Sister To NZ$2m Colt

Thursday, 3rd June 2010

The half-sister to this year's NZ$2 million Karaka Sale-topping colt scored on debut when 2YO filly Ardeche (Dehere-Diamond Like, by Danehill) won over 1100m at Canterbury Park in Sydney yesterday for trainer Bart Cummings. NZ Cambridge Stud principal Sir Patrick Hogan retained home-bred Ardeche to race himself; but her yearling half-brother (by Cambridge's multiple champion sire Zabeel) topped the 2010 NZ Bloodstock Karaka Sale when sold for NZ$2 million to Australian bloodstock agent James Bester (who declared at the time: "I gave him the highest rating I've ever given a yearling in the southern hemisphere"). Ardeche's stakes-winning & Gr1-placed dam Diamond Like is a full-sister to: Gr1-winning sire Viking Ruler; Gr2-winning & dual Gr1-placed Kempinsky; & Gr3-placed Chimeara (dam of Gr1-winner De Beers). Diamond Like is also a blood-sister to stakes-winner Helsinborg & triple Gr1-placed sire Dangerous. In addition, Diamond Like is a 3/4-sister to Gr2-winning & Gr1-placed Lovetrista, stakes-winner Lucida & triple Gr1-placed Flora Danica.
