6 Bidders For 30-Year Aqueduct VLT Contract
Six groups have each submitted a US$1 million entry fee "as part of their applications to acquire the 30-year contract to operate video lottery terminals at Aqueduct" racetrack in New York, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The list includes 4 previous bidders (SL Green Realty Corporation & partner Hard Rock Entertainment; Penn National Gaming; Delaware North & partner Saratoga Gaming & Raceway; & Clairvest Group) plus 2 new players (Empire City Casino-Yonkers Raceway; & Genting New York). Delaware North was awarded the contract last year, but was disqualified when it failed to submit a promised US$375 million. Entry fees for this latest round of bidding were due by June 1 & final bids (along with a minimum down payment of US$300 million) are due by June 29. A meeting of bidders is set for June 8 at Aqueduct.
