O'Shea Confirms Zabrasive & Jessicabeel Cup Campaigns

Friday, 4th June 2010

Meanwhile Randwick trainer John O'Shea confirmed spring campaigns for his Melbourne Cup contenders Zabrasive & Jessicabeel: Zabrasive (who won March's Gr1 Rosehill Guineas over 2000m) returns to the stable on Monday & Jessicabeel (who won April's Gr1 Sydney Cup over 3200m at Randwick) will follow 2 weeks later. O'Shea told racenet.com.au: "They're both great. They've made the necessary improvement that they needed to make to be competitive in the spring. Zabrasive has made the most significant improvement, obviously because of his youth, but I'm very happy with both horses."

  • 3YO gelding Zabrasive (Zabeel-Danasia, by Danehill) will go straight to Melbourne to begin his Cup campaign in the Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 28, followed by the Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 18, Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 2, Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 16 & Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 2.
  • 4YO mare Jessicabeel (Zabeel-More Diamonds, by Straight Strike) will stay in Sydney to begin her Cup campaign in the Tramway Handicap (1400m) at Randwick on September 4, followed by the Craven Plate (2000m) at Randwick on October 2, before heading to Melbourne for the Caulfield Cup, Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 30 & Melbourne Cup.
