Captain Rio Adds Italy Black-Type Quinella

In Italy overnight, NZ Westbury Stud shuttler Captain Rio (Pivotal-Beloved Visitor, by Miswaki) added a black-type quinella when Irish-bred daughter Corcovada (Captain Rio-Misty Mountain, by Namaqualand) scored a 0.75-length victory in the €61,600 (A$89,000) Listed Premio Nogara (1600m) for 3YO fillies at San Siro in Milan. Corcovada (ridden by Umberto Rispoli for trainer Vaclav Luka) defeated Golden Ramon (Captain Rio-Solid Golden, by Mountain Cat) & Irish-bred Douala (Dubawi-Desca, by Cadeaux Genereux). Last year Corcovada won Ireland's Listed Flame Of Tara Stakes (6 furlongs) at The Curragh & finished 3rd in the Gr3 Weld Park Stakes (7 furlongs) at The Curragh.
