Champagne D'Oro Wins US Gr1 Acorn Stakes
Multiple Gr1-winning boom US 3rd-season sire & now Darley shuttler Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado-Cappucino Bay, by Bailjumper) added a US Gr1 triumph (& 5th individual Gr1-winner) when daughter Champagne D'Oro (Medaglia D'Oro-Champagne Glow, by Saratoga Six) scored a half-length victory in the US$300,000 Gr1 Acorn Stakes (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at Belmont Park. Champagne D'Oro (ridden by Martin Garcia for trainer Eric Guillot) defeated Amen Hallelujah (Montbrook-Sara's Success, by Concorde's Tune) & Tanda (Sweetsouthernsaint-Doc's Stormy Girl, by Dr Caton). Champagne D'Oro (a US$210,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) now has 2 wins & 3 placings (including March's Gr2 Fair Grounds Oaks over 8.5 furlongs & 2009's Listed Cinderella Stakes over 5.5 furlongs at Hollywood Park) from 10 starts for US$293,465 earnings.
