Fame And Glory Wins UK Gr1 Coronation Cup

Dual-Derby winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a UK Gr1 triumph when favoured 4YO entire & last year's Gr1 Irish Derby winner Fame And Glory (Montjeu-Gryada, by Shirley Heights) notched his 2nd Gr1 success in a fortnight with a 1.5-lengths victory in the £225,000 (A$388,000) Gr1 Coronation Cup (12 furlongs) for 4YOs & up at Epsom Downs. Fame And Glory (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated 4YO mares Sariska (Pivotal-Maycocks Bay, by Muhtarram) & Irish-bred High Heeled (High Chaparral-Uncharted Haven, by Turtle Island). Fame And Glory was a 190,000 guineas (A$342,000) weanling at the UK Tattersalls 2006 December Sale; overall he now has 8 wins (also including last start's Irish G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup over 10.5 furlongs at The Curragh on May 23 & Irish Gr3 Mooresbridge Stakes over 10 furlongs at The Curragh on May 3, plus 2009's Gr1 Irish Derby over 12 furlongs at The Curragh, Irish Gr2 Derby Trial Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown & Irish Gr3 Ballysax Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown, as well as 2008's French Gr1 Criterium De Saint-Cloud over 2000m) & 3 placings (including April's Irish Listed Alleged Stakes over 10 furlongs at The Curragh, plus 2009's Gr1 English Derby over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs & Irish Gr1 Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown) from 13 starts for £1,801,680 (A$3.117m) earnings.
