Invincible Spirit Adds French Gr2

Former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris) added a French group success overnight when Irish-bred 5YO entire Allied Powers (Invincible Spirit-Always Friendly, by High Line) came from the rear of the field to notch his 2nd stakes victory in a month with a 1-length win in the €130,000 (A$189,000) Gr2 Grand Prix De Chantilly (2400m) for 4YOs & up at Chantilly. Allied Powers (ridden by Ioritz Mendizabal for trainer Michael Bell) defeated front-running German-bred fellow 5YO entire Timos (Sholokhov-Triclaria, by Surumu) & UK-bred 5YO entire Pouvoir Absolu (Sadler's Wells-Pine Chip, by Nureyev). Allied Powers was a 62,000 guineas (A$112,000) yearling at the 2006 UK Tattersalls October Sale; overall he now has 7 wins (also including last start's Gr3 Prix D'Hedouville over 2400m at Longchamp, plus 2009's UK Listed Braveheart Stakes over 12 furlongs at Hamilton Park) & 7 placings (including 2009's UK Gr2 York Stakes over 10 furlongs at York, Irish Gr3 Kilternan Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown & Irish Listed Oyster Stakes over 12 furlongs at Galway) from 22 starts. The victory also marked trainer Michael Bell's 1,000th winner.
