Monday, 7th June 2010

In New Zealand, US Gr1-winning former shuttler Prized (Kris S-My Turbulent Miss, by My Dad George) added a black-type success when 7YO mare Kiri (Prized-Opera Singer, by St Hilarion) scored a 1.75-lengths victory in the NZ$45,000 Listed Cornwall Handicap (2200m) at Ellerslie in Auckland. Kiri (ridden by Samantha Spratt for trainer Ernie Griffiths) defeated 5YO gelding Reposado (Don Eduardo-Kula Hula, by Timber Country) & 7YO gelding I'm Isaac (Istidaad-Pheroz Gold, by Super Imposing). Kiri (a NZ$8,000 purchase at the 2007 NZ Bloodstock National Broodmare & Mixed Sale) took her record to 8 wins (also including 2008's Listed Kiwifruit Cup over 2170m at Tauranga) & 8 placings (including 2009's Listed Taumarunui Cup over 2100m) from 51 starts for NZ$191,960 earnings.
