Proviso Wins US Gr1 Just A Game Stakes

Juddmonte Farm's UK-bred 5YO mare Proviso (Dansili-Binche, by Woodman) scored a half-length victory in the US$400,000 Gr1 Just A Game Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Belmont Park. Proviso (ridden by Mike Smith for trainer Bill Mott) defeated 4YO mare Phola (Johannesburg-Humbling, by Petionville) & fellow 5YO mare My Princess Jess (Stormy Atlantic-Jewell Of Jewels, by Pleasant Colony). Proviso took her record to 7 wins (also including March's Gr1 Frank Kilroe Mile Handicap over 8 furlongs at Santa Anita, plus 2009's French Gr3 Prix Du Pin over 1400m at Longchamp, 2008's French Listed Prix Occitanie over 1900m at Bordeaux & 2007's French Gr3 Prix Du Calvados over 1400m at Deauville) & 8 placings (January's Gr1 Santa Monica Handicap over 7 furlongs at Santa Anita, plus 2009's Gr1 Spinster Stakes over 9 furlongs at Keeneland & French Gr1 Prix Rothschild over 1600m at Deauville, as well as 2008's French Gr1 Prix Saint-Alary over 2000m at Longchamp, Gr3 Prix De Psyche over 2000m at Deauville, Gr3 Prix Chloe over 1600m at Maisons-Laffitte & Gr3 Prix Vanteaux over 1850m at Longchamp, in addition to 2007's UK Gr1 Fillies Mile over 8 furlongs at Ascot) from 20 starts for US$1,164,253 earnings.
