Monday, 7th June 2010

NZ Blue Gum Lodge sire Istidaad (Chief's Crown-Mazzei Mood, by Roberto) added a black-type success (& 8th individual stakes-winner) when 7YO gelding Twin Wing (Istidaad-Tiger Moth, by Sky Chase) scored a half-length victory in the $100,000 Listed Winter Cup (2400m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney to improve on his 3rd-placing in this same race last year. Twin Wing (ridden by Jay Ford for trainer Guy Walter) defeated 4YO gelding Yaqubi (Galileo-Mystic Chantry, by Chanteclair) & favoured 6YO gelding Strike One (Danehill Dancer-Intellectuelle, by Caerleon). Twin Wing (a NZ$14,000 weanling at the 2003 NZ Bloodstock Broodmare & Weanling Sale) now has 8 wins & 15 placings (including May's Listed Wagga Wagga Gold Cup over 2000m, plus 2009's Listed Grafton Cup over 2350m & Listed Winter Cup over 2400m at Rosehill, as well as 2008's Listed McKell Cup over 2400m at Rosehill) from 47 starts for $372,100 earnings.
