Magic Millions Yearlings Day-2: $320k Encosta De Lago Colt

Tuesday, 8th June 2010

In the Australian sale ring, Patinack Farm paid top price of $320,000 for a colt by Coolmore-based stallion & Australian Champion Sire of the last 2 seasons Encosta de Lago (the 2nd foal out of Gr1-winning 9YO Fimiston mare Ellicorsam) during yesterday's 2nd session at the 3-day Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on the Queensland Gold Coast. The colt was consigned by Willow Park Stud as agent & his 10-time-winning dam Ellicorsam is a half-sister to triple-winning & dual Gr2-placed Holy Bounty. Patinack's Rick Connolly commented: "He's a really nice colt. He's got plenty of scope & we thought he was the top colt of the sale. He's from a Gr1-winner & could become a top sire prospect. Overall he was a great mover & looked a top prospect & we're delighted to be able to have bought him."
