Lonhro Son Shimonhro To Stand At Bombora Downs

Thursday, 10th June 2010

Victoria's Bittern-based Bombora Downs announced unraced 4YO stallion Shimonhro (Lonhro-Shingle Moss, by Twig Moss) has joined its roster for 2010 at a $3,850 fee. Bombora's Christoph Bruechert enthused: "He is a stallion of excellent conformation & a fantastic temperament." Shimonhro originally sold for $150,000 as a weanling at the Inglis Select Sale & later $400,000 as a yearling at the Inglis Easter Sale. He was sent to Wyong trainer Kim Waugh, where he showed outstanding talent but did not make it to the track. Waugh confirmed: "Shimonhro had a fantastic galloping action. He ran times that only horses of the highest class can run & I was confident he was of Gr1 standard." Managing owner Robert Roulston added: "He ran the sorts of times over 200m & 400m that only high quality horses can run. I have raced Gr1-winners & bought Gr1-winners for clients & Shimonhro was at least the equal in every way of those horses. It is a great disappointment that he could not make it to the race track, as we really felt he had the potential to be a Gr1 star. He is just such an outstanding animal in every way that myself & friends will be breeding to him with total confidence in his ability to become a top class stallion." His sire is former Woodlands & now Darley Stud's 11-time Gr1-winning World Champion Miler & Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year Lonhro (who has already sired 14 stakes-winners) & Bruechert noted: "He has a perfect pedigree for mares with Northern Dancer & Star Kingdom blood."
