1st Winner For Canada Freshman Sire Forest Grove

Monday, 14th June 2010

Also in Canada, US Gr3-winning 9YO freshman stallion Forest Grove (Forestry-Charm a Gendarme, by Batonnier) recorded his 1st winner when US-bred 2YO filly Miss Layla (Forest Grove-Chic Sheba, by Alysheba) scored on debut over 4.5 furlongs on all-weather at Woodbine. Miss Layla was a C$32,500 yearling at Canada's 2009 Ontario September Sale. Her sire Forest Grove (a half-brother to multiple Gr1 winner Tout Charmant) won 5 of 16 starts (including both the 2004 Ocean Place Resort Stakes at Monmouth Park & Paterson Stakes at Meadowlands on turf, plus 2005 Gr3 Los Angeles Times Handicap on dirt at Hollywood Park). He originally stood at Airdrie Stud in Kentucky, but now stands at Canmor Farms in British Columbia for C$4,000.
