Aust-Bred Arena Son Wins Malaysia Gr1 Sultan Selangor

In Malaysia, Lomar Park Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Arena (Danehill-Lee's Bid, by Tawfiq) added a Gr1 triumph when Australian-bred 6YO gelding Top Spin (Arena-Gas, by Strategic) scored a 1.5-length victory in the RM$1 million (A$360,000) Gr1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor (2000m & 3rd leg of Malaysia's Triple Crown Series) at Selangor. Top Spin (ridden by jockey Jose De Souza for trainer Lim Boon Thong) defeated 5YO gelding Generous Tycoon (Generous-Assizes, by Kenmare) & Aust-bred 5YO gelding Risky Business (Danehill Dancer-Sky Watch, by Star Watch). Top Spin (who was named 2008's Singapore Champion Horse) took his record to 15 wins (including 2008's Gr1 Singapore Derby, Gr1 Kranji Mile, Gr2 Singapore Derby Trial, Gr3 Three Rings Trophy, Gr3 Singapore 4YO Mile & Gr3 Chairman's Trophy) & 10 placings (including April's Gr1 Perak Derby over 2400m, plus 2008's Singapore Gr1 Raffles Cup & Gr2 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, as well as 2007's Gr1 Singapore Gold Cup & Gr3 3YO Challenge) from 37 starts.
