Crossthestart Wins Brisbane Cup

Former Darley shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a group success when 5YO gelding Crossthestart (Cape Cross-Startling Lady, by Gold And Ivory) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the $300,000 Gr2 Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm. Crossthestart (ridden by Chris Munce for trainers Bevan & Richard Laming) defeated fellow 5YO gelding Scouting Wide (Zabeel-Gardd, by Sheikh Albadou) & 4YO mare Ekstreme (Ekraar-Cashcade, by Anziyan). Crossthestart now has 9 wins (also including May's Gr3 Chairman's Handicap over 2020m at Doomben) & 8 placings (including 2009's Gr3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2500m at Flemington, Listed Tattersall's Mile over 1600m at Eagle Farm & Listed Bendigo Cup over 2200m) from 29 starts for $511,992 earnings.
