Daunting Lad Wins Lightning Handicap

Kingdale Lodge-based stallion Latarmiss (Sadler's Wells-Foreign Courier, by Sir Ivor) added a black-type success when 8YO entire Daunting Lad (Latarmiss-New Day Dawning, by Standaan) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the $75,000 Listed Lightning Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm. Daunting Lad (ridden by Scott Seamer for trainer Danny Bougoure) defeated top-weighted & favoured 4YO gelding First Command (Commands-River Serenade, by Hurricane Sky) & 5YO gelding Another Takeover (Minardi-Soft Target, by Steinlen). Daunting Lad (a $20,000 yearling consigned by Kingdale Lodge at the 2003 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 10 wins (also including 2006's Listed Dr John Power Handicap over 1200m at Eagle Farm) & 17 placings (including 2008's Gr3 George Moore Stakes over 1200m at Doomben, Gr3 Healy Stakes over 1200m at Eagle Farm & Listed Falvelon Quality Handicap over 1200m at Eagle Farm, plus 2007's Listed Prime Minister's Cup over 1300m at the Gold Coast, Listed QTC Dr John Power Handicap over 1200m at Eagle Farm & Listed Bribie Handicap over 1200m at Eagle Farm, as well as 2006's Gr1 BTC Cup over 1200m at Doomben & Listed Prime Minister's Cup over 1300m at the Gold Coast) from 63 starts for $673,050 earnings.
