Elusive Quality Adds US Black-Type

Monday, 14th June 2010

Former Darley shuttler Elusive Quality (Gone West-Touch Of Greatness, by Hero's Honor) added a US black-type success when 4YO mare Starfish Bay (Elusive Quality-Touch Love, by Not For Love) scored a 3.5-lengths victory in the US$102,000 Listed Candy Éclair Stakes (5.5 furlongs) for fillies & Mares at Monmouth Park. Starfish Bay (ridden by John Velazquez for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated 6YO mare Candy Cane (Indian Charlie-Peppermint Promise, by Key To The Mint) & Argentine-bred 5YO mare Quebrada Shiner (Indygo Shiner-La Deneuve, by Louis Quatorze). Starfish Bay (who set a 5 furlongs turf course record last year at Monmouth Park & then another 5 furlongs turf course record at Gulfstream Park in February) took her record to 6 wins (also including May's Listed The Very One Stakes over 5 furlongs at Pimlico & February's Listed Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes over 5 furlongs at Gulfstream & 2009's Listed From New York To Old Stakes over 5.5 furlongs at Saratoga) & 2 placings from 12 starts for US$241,831 earnings.
