Singspiel Stud Career May Be At End
The stud career of former Darley shuttler & Dubai World Cup winner Singspiel (In The Wings-Glorious Song, by Halo) "may be at an end because of his on-going fertility problems" reported racingpost.com overnight. Singspiel (a Darley stallion since 1998) "was 1st diagnosed with problems in March, when it was hoped his fall in fertility would prove to be temporary". But his fertility has not improved & Darley's director of stallions Sam Bullard confirmed: "Singspiel has been covering mares without any satisfactory results. We will need to be able to give breeders some positive news before the start of next season, if we are to market him to them & at the moment we don't have any positive news." Singspiel (now 18-years-old) was standing the 2010 season at Dalham Hall Stud in England for £15,000 (A$26,000). On the track, he won 4 international Gr1 events (the Canadian International, Japan Cup, UK Coronation Cup & UK Juddmonte International Stakes, plus the Dubai World Cup before it was given international Gr1 status). His best progeny include Dubai World Cup winner Moon Ballad & Ascot Gold Cup winner Papineau; in 2009 his Gr1-winners included Dar Re Mi, Eastern Anthem & Hibaayeb.
