1st Winner In France For US Freshman Sire Aragorn

In France overnight, Irish-bred & US-based multiple Gr1-winning 8YO freshman stallion Aragorn (Giant's Causeway-Onaga, by Mr Prospector) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO colt Araneide (Aragorn-Carini, by Vettori) scored over 1000m at Durtal for trainer Guy Henrot. Araneide was a US$30,000 weanling at the 2008 Keeneland November Sale & later a €15,000 (A$22,000) yearling at France's Arqana August Sale. Aragoprn (who stands for US$7,500 at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky) has 92 2YOs in his 1st-crop. On the track, Aragorn recorded 6 wins (including 2006's Gr1 Shoemaker Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes & a 9 furlongs course record at Del Mar of 1min 44.79sec in 2006's Gr1 Eddie Read Handicap, plus both 2006's Gr2 Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap & Gr2 Oak Tree Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes at Santa Anita) & 6 placings (including runner-up in the 2006 Gr1 Breeders' Cup Mile) from 14 starts for US$1,529,325 earnings.
