Weekend Options For Melb Cup Contender Profound Beauty

Monday, 21st June 2010

In Ireland overnight, trainer Dermot Weld's star 6YO staying mare & early Melbourne Cup fancy Profound Beauty (Danehill-Diamond Trim, by Highest Honor) who returned from an 8-months spell to win Ireland's Saval Beg Stakes (14 furlongs) at Leopardstown last month "may have her next start at the Curragh on Saturday, where she has 2 options" reported racingpost.com. Profound Beauty "will be left in both the Pretty Polly Stakes (10 furlongs) & Curragh Cup (14 furlongs) at today's (Monday's) entry stage, with no decision likely on her participation until Wednesday". Weld confirmed yesterday: "We'll see what the week brings with the weather & probably make a decision on Wednesday. There would need to be some rain mid-week, as the ground is quite firm at the moment."
