McEvoy Sidelined Indefinitely With Fractured Vertebra
Leading Darley jockey Kerrin McEvoy "won't have to undergo surgery but will need to wear a back brace" & will be sidelined indefinitely, after fracturing a vertebra in his fall at Gosford on Wednesday, reported The Daily Telegraph. McEvoy was due to be transferred from Gosford Hospital to Royal North Shore Hospital last night & his manager Glenn Darcy confirmed McEvoy had "fractured a vertebra in the middle of his back" & underwent further scans yesterday "to determine whether he also has ligament damage". Darcy said McEvoy "won't have to have surgery", but noted "there's no set time frame at this stage" for how long he will be out of racing.
