Street Cry Adds US Black-Type

Monday, 28th June 2010

Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a US black-type success when Godolphin's US-bred 4YO entire Desert Party (Street Cry-Sage Cat, by Tabasco Cat) scored a 3.5-lengths victory in the US$200,000 Listed Donald Levine Memorial Handicap (7 furlongs) for 3YOs & up at Philadelphia Park. Desert Party (ridden by David Cohen for trainer Saeed bin Suroor) defeated fellow US-bred 4YO entire Uncle Gidge (Belong To Me-Elgin Lady, by Valid Appeal) & US-bred 5YO gelding Mannington (Delaware Township-Three's Perfect, by Carson City). Desert Party was the highest-priced 2YO-in-training sold at public auction in 2008, when Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock manager John Ferguson out-bid trainer Steve Klesaris & paid US$2.1 million at the Fasig-Tipton Florida select auction. Desert Party took his record to 6 wins (also including March's Gr3 Meydan Mahab Al Shimaal Stakes over 1200m & February's Gr3 Nad al Sheba UAE Two Thousand Guineas over 1600m & 2008's Gr2 Saratoga Sanford Stakes over 7 furlongs) & 1 placing (March's Gr2 Nad al Sheba UAE Derby over 1800m) from 10 starts.
