UK Tatts Yearlings Day-1: $2.04m Galileo Filly
Coolmore representative Demi O'Byrne (bidding for John Magnier) paid top price of 1.2 million guineas (A$2.04m) for a filly by former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (out of Green Desert mare Alluring Park) during the opening session overnight at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 at Park Paddocks in Newmarket in England. The filly is a grand-daughter of Champion filly Park Express & her dam Alluring Park is a half-sister to 5-time Gr1-winning former European Champion 2YO & 3YO & now Darley shuttler New Approach. She was consigned from Seamus Burns's Lodge Park Stud in Ireland & had received a major catalogue update when her half-sister Janood won the Listed Matalan Stakes. Burns commented: "I only had her reserved at 300,000 guineas (A$510,000) & even though I have been in this game a long time, you never quite know what is going happen! But I have always felt that she is the nicest I have ever bred & it is rare for things to click together so well."
