Mosse Says Americain "Better Suited At Sha Tin"

Wednesday, 1st December 2010

Champion French jockey Gerald Mosse "says Melbourne Cup winner Americain will be better suited racing right-handed" in the upcoming Gr1 Hong Kong Vase (2400m) at Sha Tin on December 12. Mosse told The Daily Telegraph he was "confident the French-trained stayer could peak again for the Vase" & he would be "more at home at Sha Tin than Flemington" noting: "Racing right-handed, I think, will be even better for him. He used to perform all his best races right-handed." Mosse added Americain was "a super horse" & should also adapt to coming back from 3200m to 2400m, adding: "Distance-wise, I don't think it is a biggish problem." Mosse said if there was going to be any problem for the horse, it could be "the prospect of a hard track at Sha Tin" & summed up: "I hope the ground won't be too hard because tracks with cut in the ground is his best form."
