Aust-Bred Gr1-Winner War Artist Switches French Stables

In France, globe-trotting & Gr1-winning Australian-bred 7YO gelding War Artist (Orpen-Royal Solitaire, by Brocco) has been transferred from Alain de Royer-Dupre's stable to race under the supervision of rival Rodolphe Collet in his 2011 campaign, reported racingpost.com. This year War Artist won both February's UAE Gr3 Al Shindagha Sprint (1200m) at Meydan & July's French Gr3 Prix De Ris-Orangis (1200m) at Maisons-Laffitte, before finishing unplaced in October's French Gr1 Prix de l'Abbaye (1000m) at Longchamp. Collet confirmed: "The plan is to go to Dubai this (northern hemisphere) winter. We will most likely follow the same programme as this year." Overall War Artist (a $57,500 yearling consigned by Attunga Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions January Gold Coast Sale) boasts 8 wins (also including 2009's German Gr2 Goldene Peitsche over 1200m at Baden-Baden & French Gr3 Prix Du Petit Couvert over 1000m at Longchamp, plus 2007's South African Gr1 Mercury Sprint over 1200m at Clairwood) & 13 placings (including 2009's French Gr1 Prix de l'Abbaye over 1000m at Longchamp, plus 2008's UK Gr1 July Cup over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, UK Gr1 Golden Jubilee Stakes over 6 furlongs at Royal Ascot, UK Gr2 Duke Of York Stakes over 6 furlongs at York & UK Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes over 7 furlongs at Wolverhampton, as well as 2007's South African Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint over 1200m at Scottsville & South African Gr3 Byerley Turk Plate over 1400m at Scottsville) from 25 starts for £449,948 (A$720,000) earnings.
