Scenic Blast Returning From US To Race In Aust

Thursday, 2nd December 2010

Multiple Gr1-winning 6YO gelding & 2008-09 Australian Horse-Of-The-Year Scenic Blast (Scenic-Daughter's Charm, by Delgado) "will return from racing in the US to Perth early next year, where he will be trained by Dan Morton & is likely be set for sprint races throughout the Queensland Winter Carnival" reported perthracing.com.au. Scenic Blast "will enter 3 weeks of quarantine in the US this month, before returning to Australia where he will spend another 3 weeks at the Eastern Creek quarantine facility" outside Sydney. Connections "made the decision to bring Scenic Blast back to Australia after 5 runs for California trainer John Shirreffs failed to result in a win, with suggestions the flashy gelding wasn't suited to their style of racing". While in the US, Scenic Blast finished 2nd in August's Gr1 Bing Crosby Stakes (6 furlongs on all-weather) at Del Mar & 3rd in October's Gr3 Morvich Handicap (6 furlongs on dirt) at Hollywood Park.
