UK Tatts Dec Sale Final Average Down 2.3%

Meanwhile the 2-week Tattersalls December Sale (of which the 4-day Mares Sale was the final section, following last week's Yearlings & Foals) concluded with 1,398 lots sold for a cumulative 55,610,800 guineas (A$91.758m) which was down 2.3%. The final average of 39,799 guineas (A$65,700) was down 2.2%, but the final median of 17,000 guineas (A$28,000) was up 13.3%. Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony summed up: "The global bloodstock industry, in common with so many others, continues to face challenges, but the Tattersalls December Sale has yet again given cause for a measure of optimism & a timely reminder that quality bloodstock remains as sought after as ever."
