1st Winner For Freshman Sire Goodricke
In the UK, Gr1-winning 8YO freshman stallion Goodricke (Bahamian Bounty-Star, by Most Welcome) recorded his 1st winner when Irish-bred 2YO colt Dunhoy (Goodricke-Belle Of The Blues, by Blues Traveller) scored by 11.5-lengths over 8.5 furlongs on all-weather at Wolverhampton for trainer Stef Higgins. Dunhoy was a 6,500 guineas (A$10,700) weanling at the 2008 Tattersalls December Sale & subsequently a €7,000 (A$9,700) 2YO at this year's Goffs March Sale. His sire Goodricke (a full-brother to Gr1-winner Pastoral Pursuits) won 2 of his 4 juvenile starts in 2004, followed by 3 of 7 starts in 2005 (including the UK Gr1 Haydock Sprint Cup, plus runner-up in France's Gr1 Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville). Goodricke retired to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum's Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire under the Darley banner for the 2007 season (where he covered 38 mares) before transferring in 2008 to Allevamento Fattoria Renaccino in Italy; after 2 seasons he moved again to Gestut Ohlerweiherhof in Germany, where he stood the past season for €4,000 (A$5,500).
