1st Winner For NZ Freshman Sire Darci Brahma

The Oaks Stud's 5-time Gr1-winning & 5-time Gr1-placed 8YO freshman stallion Darci Brahma (Danehill-Grand Echezeaux, by Zabeel) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO colt Super Easy (Darci Brahma-Parfore, by Gold Brose) scored on debut over 1000m at Trentham in 56.2sec for trainer John Sargent. Super Easy (managed by bloodstock agent Michael Wallace for Hong Kong-based Joy N Happiness Stable) was a NZ$140,000 yearling consigned by Esker lodge & purchased by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds at this year's NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka. His sire Darci Brahma (bred by Pencarrow Stud's Peter & Philip Vela) was a sale-topping NZ$1.1 million yearling purchase by Te Akau Stud's David Ellis at NZ Bloodstock's 2004 Karaka Premier Sale. On the track, he headed both the NZ 2YO & 3YO Free Handicaps & retired in 2007 with 10 wins (including NZ's Gr1 Waikato Draught Sprint over 1400m, Gr1 Telegraph Handicap over 1200m, Gr1 NZ 2000 Guineas over 1600m & Gr1 Otaki-Maori Weight-For-Age over 1600m, plus Australia's Gr1 T.J.Smith Classic over 1600m as a 2YO in Brisbane, as well as NZ's Gr2 Hawke's Bay Guineas over 1400m & Gr2 Wellington Thoroughbred Breeders' Guineas over 1500m) & 5 placings (including runner-ups in the NZ Gr1 Waikato Draught Sprint over 1400m, Gr1 Mudgway Partsworld Stakes over 1400m, Gr1 Stoney Bridge Stakes over 1600m & Gr1 Australian Guineas over 1600m) from 19 starts. Darci Brahma stood the 2010 breeding season at The Oaks Stud for NZ$20,000+GST.
