Napthine Wants New Boss At Racing Victoria

Monday, 6th December 2010

New Victorian Racing Minister Denis Napthine "has kept up the pressure on Michael Duffy not to seek re-election as Racing Victoria chairman" reported The Herald-Sun this morning. While Napthine "stopped short of saying Duffy should not stand at Thursday's annual meeting, he said it was time for RV to move on from the past". Napthine "acknowledged it was RV's decision - not the State Government's - who was elected chairman, but said he did not shy away from his pre-election comments that Duffy had reached his use-by date". Napthine declared bluntly: "I hope Racing Victoria is mature enough to understand there is a change of government, a change of minister & I want a positive working relationship with Racing Victoria. It's absolutely essential for racing in this state & I would hope they understand those issues. We have a new Government, a new minister, a new approach to racing & we want to move on. I would hope Racing Victoria is part of that new process."
